So I took a break from the Robot Engine project the other night and loaded Android on my AT&T Tilt. I was pleasantly surprised at the how easy it was and how fast and smooth it ran after. I ran into a few problems here and there and finally got it running. The bluetooth and the camera still don’t work, due to drivers, but I’ll keep my eyes open for a fix. Once I got everything going, I started looking at all the apps the app store had to offer (most free). There are apps for about everything and they all feel just like the OS (fast and smooth) which is a big plus. I was very surprised at the variety of apps. One of the most interesting apps I found was a metal detector which uses the internal compass to detect metal. Unfortunately the Tilt doesn’t have a compass so I wasn’t able to use with one. Android for the Tilt isn’t a ROM(yet) so you still have to boot into Windows then reboot into Android. I put the booter in the Startup folder so it automatically boots to Android right after it boots to Windows. No big deal i hardly ever turn off my phone. Now I cant wait to get a new phone that runs Android natively and play with all the features Android was to offer.
Over all I love it and is now my favorite mobile OS.
If you want to try it out on you Kaiser(Tilt) or Vogue phone, this is were I got it from.
